Santa Cecilia Orchestra

The Santa Cecilia Orchestra came to Mt. Washington today! There were three people playing string instruments. There was a violin, a viola, and a cello. They played Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the theme from Star Wars, and the theme from Peanuts. They even invited us to come and listen to their concert! The music was beautiful. Flyers for the concert are coming home today.

Placerita Canyon

We went on a field trip to Placerita Canyon. First we saw a barn owl and two different snakes. There was also a tarantula. Everything was blooming and the grass was really high. We saw a special oak tree.  Somebody found gold under that tree. The ranger didn't allow us to look for gold.  If you find gold now you have to leave it in the park.

TASTE THE RAINBOW!

We ate a rainbow today! Today is St. Patrick's Day and we celebrated by making a rainbow snack.
We ate strawberries, pomegranate, tangerines, mango, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, and grapes. The strawberries were red and sweet. The pomegranates popped in our mouth. They are seeds and can be planted.  You will get a whole pomegranate tree. The mangoes and kiwi were soft. The blueberries were only blue on the outside. The Grapes were juicy and really sour.

The Analog Clock

We learned all about analog clocks today.  Look at this old clock.  You can see all the little wheels that make the mechanism work. The Math Gremlins were so happy about our time fractions that they came and visited. We were wondering how they go to the store?  Do they wear a disguise? We have never seen them.  How do they look like? Maybe they look like Lego mini figures?

Lilah Hayes wrote a delightful recounting of the recent class field trip.  Have a read!!  Mrs. Langsdorff would love to post other children's work as well so please let her know if your child has something to share about a school event or experience.
